47th Annual Broward County Waterway Cleanup
In early March, TowBoatU.S. Fort Lauderdale joined forces with the Marine Industries Association of South Florida to assist in their 47th annual Broward County Waterway Cleanup. The event demonstrates their commitment to keeping the waterways pristine and protecting the marine environment.
Volunteers from all over Broward County headed out on their own vessels that beautiful Saturday morning to collect trash, discarded fishing gear, and other debris from the waterways. TowBoatU.S. Fort Lauderdale volunteered their 32’ SeaArk barge, along with a crew, to help collect trash from the local volunteers and provide water to keep everyone hydrated while combing the local canals and mangroves.
The event was a resounding success as dozens of trash bags were filled and transferred to the TowBoatU.S. Fort Lauderdale team, who then took them to Lauderdale Marina for proper disposal. The efforts may have been a drop in the ocean, but every piece of trash removed makes a significant impact on the health of the marine environment.
Special thanks to the Marine Industries Association of South Florida for organizing this incredible event and to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to make it a success. Together, everyone is steering towards a cleaner, brighter future for our waterways.
