M/V Richard L. Becker Emerges Renewed and Ready for Charter
In the latter part of 2023, TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale’s 96’ OSV, M/V Richard L. Becker successfully completed her 5-year ABS inspection. She emerged with a clean bill of health and is ready to support your charter boat needs whether they be local or in a distant port. During her time in the shipyard, the vessel underwent a rejuvenating transformation, receiving fresh paint both above and below the waterline. The 7.5-ton knuckle boom crane, a key component of our operations was removed from the vessel for a comprehensive refit, ensuring seamless service for many years to come. Additionally, numerous systems underwent routine maintenance, and all steel components were meticulously tested and addressed. Steel plating was cropped and replaced in both the hull and tanks. Running gear and steering components were refreshed or replaced as necessary.
The Richard L. Becker has a rich history of supporting diverse operations, including providing support for major salvage jobs, towing disabled vessels from distant foreign ports, deploying and retrieving various research buoys, supporting ROV Operations and much more. The vessel is equipped with an A-frame, deck winch, and an expansive cargo deck with a NATO Grid to easily secure deck loads and equipment, allowing for efficient and safe deployment and transportation while at sea.
Moored in the maritime hub of South Florida, the Richard L. Becker is ready to embark on charters wherever the call beckons. Holding a Certificate of Inspection (COI) for 42 passengers on domestic voyages and 12 passengers on international journeys, this versatile vessel and her experienced crew is ready to support your charter needs and live out the next chapter in her career.
