Great Aerial Salvage Footage

Local 10 News was high above the scene of a sunken vessel recovery in Late May. A 22’ Center console sank off the coast of Fort Lauderdale and the boat settled to the bottom near Barracuda Reef. The crew from TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale was called upon to perform the recovery effort. Divers rigged a towing line to the vessel and deployed a swimmer to watch as the Tow Boat carefully eased into the proper position to perform the tricky operation. As the captain slowly applied strain to the line, the swimmer gave him direction to ensure the vessel was rising off the bottom and oriented appropriately so she would be upright when the bow pierced the surface. Care was taken to be very patient and deliberate, slowly inching the tug forward to ensure that no damage was done to the T top or console from the force of the sea water against them. The whole operation went as planned as you can see in the attached video. The casualty was towed to a local boat ramp and on to a secure yard so the cause of the incident could be investigated.
