Richard L. Becker chartered for Seismic Survey Work

The 96' M/V Richard L. Becker recently completed a charter for Houston Texas Based SeaScan Seismic Incorporated. The Richard L. Becker was dispatched from her home Port of Port Everglades Florida for the transit to Galveston Texas where her 50' by 22' cargo deck was prepared for the operation. The crew mobilized four large air compressors, an air distribution manifold, an overhead rail system and a hydraulic power pack onto the deck. All of the equipment was secured using the Nato Grid system that is integrated into the boats deck. This system includes over 100 large threaded inserts that are welded flush into the deck surface eliminating the time and expense of welding our customers equipment directly to the deck. Once the equipment was secure, the Tri Cluster Point Seismic Sound Source Array was loaded to a position beneath the Overhead Rail System. Total weight of the equipment used for this operation was approximately 40,000 Lbs. The seismic survey operation took place in the waters offshore of Galveston with eight of Seascan's crew on board. Harold Barber, the founder and President of SeaScan Seismic commented that the operation was a complete success stating that the Captain and crew of the Richard L. Becker contributed significantly to the success of the mission.

The Richard L. Becker has a Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection and a 7.5 Ton Knuckle boom deck crane. She is available for hourly or daily charter. Please contact our office for details on pricing and availability.
