Dredging Set to Commence Later This Month
A recent notice from the Florida Inland Navigation District announced the initiation of dredging operations in the Dania Cut Off Canal starting on Sunday, June 17, 2012. Barges, tugs, work boats and dredging equipment will be occupying and operating in the canal during daylight hours. Boaters should maintain watch for these vessels and equipment and give the right of way. Navigation will be disrupted at times while these operations take place.
The first dredging work will occur at Port Everglades. However, in July the dredging operations will move into the Dania Cut Off Canal itself and navigation will be impacted at times by the operation. Boaters are advised to anticipate delays. The project will last until March of 2013. Call the district offices at 561-627-3386 for more details.
