Port Everglades Anchorage Experiencing a Busy Spring!

Tourists perched on the sand along Ft. Lauderdale beach have had a lot to look at this spring. The Ft. Lauderdale anchorage has been nearly full to capacity on several occasions early in 2012. With hopes to make 2012 its 4th year of steady revenue and cargo tonnage growth, Port Everglades is off to a strong start! As a result, the berths in the port are often full. Inbound ships utilize the anchorage while waiting for their berth or drop anchor while passing our busy port in route to their next destination. TowBoatU.S. launch service has been busy providing transportation for crew changes, spare parts delivery and other services that ships may need. TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale's Assistant Director of Risk Management Christian Denhard recalls "There were a few days in April when we had two or three of our launch boats providing services to several ships in the anchorage or passing Port Everglades at the same time.
