M/V Richard L. Becker Supports Dive Operation
Servicing
the Cruise Ship Independence of the Seas
During the month of December, 2015, the Richard L. Becker supported dive operations on three different occasions alongside the Independence of the Seas in Port Everglades. They were contracted by a commercial dive operator to act as a work platform for work that needed to be completed underwater on the outboard side of the ship. Surface supplied dive gear was loaded on board along with various tools necessary for completing the repairs. Some of the equipment used for the operation included an air compressor, welders, and hydraulic power packs. The expansive deck of the Becker allowed plenty of room to stage gear and work in a comfortable environment. The vessel’s crew and the dive crew followed strict safety guidelines throughout the operations including lockout/tagout and a preparatory tool box meeting prior to commencement of each operation.
The Richard L. Becker and the rest of the TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale fleet is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your charter and launch needs throughout South Florida, the Bahamas and beyond.
