Awarded Regional Support Vessel Contract
for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

When you check the Marine Forecast, log on to Buoyweather.com or utilize Sirius/Xm satellite weather service, know that the M/V Richard L. Becker and TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale are helping behind the scenes to ensure that the equipment producing this data is on station and functioning properly. In late 2015, TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale’s Richard L. Becker was awarded a contract to serve as a regional support vessel for NOAA. Among other tasks, the vessel will support missions to recover buoys that break loose from their moorings as well as transporting technicians to service the delicate electronics housed in these buoys. Most of the work will be completed off the Atlantic Coast, Gulf Coast and throughout the Caribbean Sea. TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale is excited about this new endeavor and is proud to be working with such a great group of people at NOAA!
