Running to Make a Difference
TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale has recently joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. Chloe Baker, TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale's Director of Administration joined the Ft. Lauderdale chapter at the end of October. She is currently training for the Disney Princess Half Marathon which will be held in February 2012. She has made a commitment to train and raise $2,100.00 before the event on February 26, 2012 at Disney World.
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma as well as improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Nearly 958,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. They fund lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provide grants to other organizations performing research. They also provide free information and support services for those affected and their families.
Chloe has been running for a little over a year now. She started running in 5k marathons supporting other great causes and decided it wasn't challenging enough. "I wanted to push myself physically and help people. I have watched several wonderful people lose their battles to various cancers and this is something I can do in their honor. It makes me feel good to know I am making a small difference. I, like many others, take my health for granted until I hear someone else's bad news. This experience is reminding me daily to be grateful for my health and that I can do something to help others."
Please check out Chloe's Fundraising Page to donate and learn more about her progress. You will receive an email confirmation of your donation which is 100% tax deductible and Chloe will be notified of your generosity. Please show your support for this great cause.
