TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale’s 96’ OSV Richard L. Becker recently serviced the launch needs of the 910’ LNG tanker Excelerate in International waters off Port Everglades Florida. The delivery consisted of 24 crates and 4 technicians. The total weight of the cargo was over 45,000 pounds. As evidenced by the photo above, cargo covered a good portion of the Becker’s deck. It is notable that this load was considerably less than the Becker’s maximum cargo capacity which is certified by the American Bureau of Shipping at 38 long tons.
The crew began loading the cargo at TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale’s facility in Dania Beach, Florida just after 11:00 A.M. The cargo delivery and personnel transfer was complete at 8:15 P.M. and the boat was back to the dock approximately two hours later. This job highlights the company’s ability to work with private entities and government officials to ensure the job gets done on schedule while meeting all USCG and United States CBP regulations related to delivering cargo to vessels in International waters.
