Navajo PA31
TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale was hired to recover a twin-engine Piper aircraft that crash-landed off the coast of Bimini in the Bahamas. The salvage team mobilized the Richard L. Becker along with a RHIB to access the shallow waters where the aircraft was located. The crew recovered debris from the crash site and used lift bags to raise the fuselage off the bottom, allowing it to be towed to the Richard L. Becker. Lift bags were also rigged to each engine so they could be safely towed to the vessel as well. Once everything was alongside, the knuckle boom crane was used to lift the aircraft onto the deck, where it was secured for transit back to Fort Lauderdale.
