Northern Voyager 43
On the early morning in April TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale Dispatcher, John Lepore received a telephone call from a boater who had communications with a vessel needing assistance in the Bahamas. The vessel was grounded on the reef on the north side of Gun Cay, Bahamas and was taking on water requesting assistance. Salvage Master, Larry Acheson mobilized a salvage team and TowBoatU.S. #8 and the Richard L. Becker were underway within hours of the initial call. The vessel sustained substantial damage to the hull and keel. The salvage divers rigged the casualty with lift bags and patched the hull in numerous places. The vessel was dewatered and towed back to the United States for repair.
