TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale Supports Deep Towed Sonar Testing

During the 4th quarter of 2010, TowBoatU.S. Ft Lauderdale supported several test operations for Edgetech; an affiliate of ORE Offshore. The unit tested is amongst the largest of the combination Sonar's that the company offers weighing approximately 4100 pounds. A representative from Edgetech explained that this piece of gear can be customized to the customer's needs. In standard trim it combines a side scan sonar with the choice of a wideband sub-bottom profiler; a wide range of frequency choices are available as options with this custom built deep towfish. A multitude of additional optional sensors can also be integrated to support data collection including a magnetometer, CTD, and swath bathymetry amongst others.
