TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale recently unveiled the results of an extensive refit performed on their 46’ aluminum work boat, TowBoatU.S. Launch. This ambitious project, spanning several months, was primarily executed by the company’s skilled in-house maintenance and fabrication crew, showcasing their craftsmanship and dedication to excellence.
One of the most notable improvements to the boat involved a complete repower. The company chose FPT 580 HP diesel engines, complemented by new Twin Disc marine transmissions. These powerful and efficient engines have substantially boosted the vessel’s capabilities with greater horsepower and improved reliability. The company’s launch service and long distance towing service will both benefit significantly from this upgrade.
However, the refit didn’t stop there. TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale’s commitment to providing top-notch service and ensuring the comfort of their crew and passengers led to the addition of a marine toilet and sanitation system, catering to the crew’s needs during extended operations. Furthermore, all air conditioning units on board were replaced, creating a comfortable environment for the crew and passengers, regardless of the prevailing weather conditions. Recognizing the importance of advanced navigation and electronics equipment, TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale spared no expense in upgrading the vessel’s technology. The navigation and electronics systems underwent a thorough modernization, equipping the crew with state-of-the-art tools including a Furuno NavNet 3D plotter/sounder and a Furuno UHD Radar system.
