M/V Richard L. Becker Chartered to Support Unmanned Helicopter Testing

TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale’s 96’ OSV, Richard L. Becker performed an interesting charter operation in mid May 2021. The boat was hired to support testing of a small unmanned helicopter in the Gulf of Mexico off Pensacola, Florida. The customer specified their needs for a launch/landing pad for the aircraft and the talented TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale crew got to work fabricating the pad to their exact specs. The height of the pad was especially important to ensure that the aircraft had no obstructions nearby. The vessel crew worked with the charterer through challenging weather conditions netting a successful test.
