Parbuckled Like a Pro!
When small to mid-sized boats capsize offshore, many times the most efficient way to perform the recovery is to use a method known as Parbuckling. When done by an experienced expert, it looks like pure magic! This method involves the use of two towing lines rigged in a specific way to help roll the boat over. Once the boat is upright, one of the towing lines is slacked allowing the boat to straighten out and follow in the towboat’s wake. The casualty will still have water in it at this stage. Another towboat will come alongside to deploy pumps to finish the dewatering process.
