Updates Fleet with 2 Sea Arks

After an exhaustive search for a high quality, used, fast response boat over the past two years, TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale was fortunate enough to locate two 28’ SeaArk VC Commanders that had been retired from the Chicago Police Department. Both were purchased and transported to South Florida where they would be transformed into towboats. The goal in the search for a perfect boat included several factors. The top priority was to find a mil-spec aluminum hulled boat. After many years of utilizing fiberglass RHIB’s, the company wanted to make the switch to aluminum to ensure the boat would withstand the rigors of the towing and salvage world for many years to come. Company President Larry Acheson explains “When life and property are on the line, we want our captains in a fast response asset that can withstand whatever the ocean has to dish out. We use these boats to respond to Mayday calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We searched for a stable, fast and reliable boat so we never have to worry about our equipment when servicing the needs of our customers. SeaArk has a great reputation for building safe and seaworthy boats. Our shop staff, led by Jeff Hamilton did an incredible job refitting the 1st boat which was put into service late last year. With plenty of room for our salvage gear, towing equipment and a complete electronics package, we couldn’t be any happier with the performance of this boat. Jeff and his crew are in the midst of refitting the second one which is scheduled for completion early in Q3.”
